More like something out of a horror manga than real life.
On the morning of July 7, the day of the Tanabata Festival in Japan, the corpse of an 18-year-old college girl Ibuki Kizu was found in the industrial refrigerator of a Japanese sweets store in Arakawa Ward, Tokyo.
Police were first alerted to Ibuki’s disappearance by her mother, who told them that she wasn’t able to contact her daughter or husband, which led to the discovery of the body.
The refrigerator the body was found inside was 85 centimeters (2.8 feet) tall by 70 centimeters (2.3 feet) deep and 1.4 meters (4.6 feet) wide, which says something about the condition of the corpse when it was discovered.

According to investigations so far, Ibuki’s father is the suspect, for having told his family: “I cut my daughter. I’m going to kill myself too.” No one has been able to contact him since the incident, but police are still searching for him as well as more details for the motive.
All across the same street that the sweets shop is located at, other stores and restaurants have closed for the day, with signs on their doors saying: “Temporarily closed due to recent circumstances.”

According to those who lived nearby and frequented the shop, the father “seemed like a normal older man,” and they were “surprised by the news.” With children of their own, they’re not sure how they feel about having gone there before.
Here’s how Japanese netizens reacted:
“Whoa that is terrifying.”
“How does that even happen?”
“Was it an accident or premeditated?”
“I hope they find him soon.”
“What happened? Was she dead before or after being put in the fridge?”
As more details of this case come to light, let’s keep the poor mother in our thoughts, and hope that justice for Ibuki is eventually found.
