Head over to Nagasaki to check out this cool Mewtastic event!
Huis Ten Bosch is a little slice of Dutch paradise on the far-western reaches of Japan. Nestled in the city of Sasebo in Nagasaki Prefecture, this theme park is a model of Holland from the middle ages, where you can see life-sized replicas of Dutch architecture, eat delicious food from all over the world, explore museums, and enjoy tons of events and attractions.
Starting on June 21, you’ll also be able to enjoy a “Heart Racing Pokémon Adventure” to celebrate the upcoming Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution movie, which is expected to come to theaters in Japan on July 12. In the Heart Racing Adventure, Pokémon fans can participate in a mini-game and trivia rally; Mewtwo has hidden various tests throughout the park, and it will be up to you to find and clear them to win the challenge!

The story goes like this:
“One day, a mysterious invitation from Mewtwo was delivered to you…But in order to get to Mewtwo’s Pokémon Castle on New Island, you have to overcome trials set up by the legendary Pokémon itself! Borrow the power of Pokémon and aim for New Island!”

You’ll receive a pamphlet like the one above, and each time you clear a trial, you’ll get a sticker. Once you get all four, head back to the start point to get your Pokémon Castle sticker, and to claim a Pokémon folder as your prize!
In further celebration, Huis Ten Bosch’s famous tower building, Domtoren, will be lit up with Mewtwo’s colors and his imposing image at night, and throughout the event there will also be meet-and-greets with Pikachu and Mewtwo on weekends and holidays. (Check out the official site [Japanese only] for the dates.)
You can also take photos at a special photo spot commemorating the new movie, and bounce in a giant Pikachu bouncy castle (height restrictions apply)! There will even be a pop-up shop where you can buy Pokémon goods, so there will be plenty of Pokémon fun to be had.
The Heart Racing Pokémon Adventure will be available until September 1, so if you want to see if you have what it takes to outsmart Mewtwo, head over to Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki before then. Though there may not be English-language options, we don’t doubt that you will still have a fun Pokémon adventure with your friends!
