Tis the season to be gravy fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Instead of hearty dinners full of turkey, ham, puddings and fruitcakes, Christmas in Japan somehow evolved into loads of fried chicken being served at family gatherings.
In preparation for what would likely be a surge in chicken demand, McDonald’s Japan will be offering — according to their official Twitter account and starting from 21 November to early January next year — huge boxes of 15-piece chicken nuggets for a reduced price of 390 yen (US$3.46) each.
▼ Remember to keep them away from Phantom Thief Nuggets,
the nugget-stealing masked baddie in the bottom left.

What’s more, two new limited-edition festive dipping sauces will be released simultaneously. First is the Merry Christmas Steak Sauce, a soy sauce base infused with aromatic garlic, onion and cracked black pepper that will have you craving for more. Next is the Happy New Year Lobster Mayo Sauce, which makes liberal use of lobster powder mixed in a creamy mayonnaise base.

These would be phenomenal with fries, too.

Unsure of which to choose? Well, customers who purchase a box of 15-piece nuggets will be offered three packets of sauce of their choice, allowing them to sample the best of both worlds and taking guesswork out of the equation.
The fast-food franchise is also running a Twitter campaign, rewarding followers who retweet their posts with what appears to be an anti-theft device in the shape of a delicious nugget half-covered in gravy.
▼ Every day, 72 followers will be gifted this odd crime prevention alarm
that alerts passersby with Christmas carols when pressed.
McDonald’s Japan sure knows how to tantalize our taste buds with new flavors, and we think both the Steak Sauce and Lobster Mayo Sauce will be a hit with just about everyone. Only time will tell if these two will match up to the marvelous wasabi and teriyaki sauces released last year.
