Sure, you can do a pretty good doodle of Gudetama, but can you make Gudetama gyoza?
@ilisia_liu can. She’s a cook from Taiwan who has been in the spotlight recently for her amazing food art. It’s so amazing that it’s got her almost 1.5 million followers on Instagram and we wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve already heard of her.
Her specialty lies in creating representations of characters entirely out of food and she has flawless models of Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story, and more.
▼ Winnie the Pooh looks even better as a burger.
What we find irresistible, though, is her Japanese character recipes. She recreates some of our favorite anime and Sanrio characters.
▼ Look at how perfect these Pom Pom Purins are!
@ilisialiu isn’t just a genius; she’s also kind enough to share some tips and details with us. In each Instagram post’s caption, she describes what foods are used and how to replicate the recipe on our own.
▼ The skins for these Gudetama gyoza were made yellow by boiling them in water seasoned with turmeric.

▼ We love these Sailor Moon rice balls! there’s even a tiny Luna one.
▼ A nutritious and delicious Doraemon bento box.
▼ ilisa liu even has a book published! It has a ton of breakfast recipes.
While ilisa liu’s Instagram posts aren’t published in English, online translation machines can help you get the gist of it. At least the cuteness of her recipes needs no translation!
