The non-paying guests did a runner while the employee grabbed onto their car door.
In the early hours of 17 September, a member of staff at a love hotel in Aichi Prefecture sustained injuries after giving chase to two men who had left the establishment without paying their bill.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Hotel Belle La Tour in Toyokawa City, when two men who had stayed overnight on 16 September racked up a 110,000 yen (US$976.68) bill on food, drink, and accommodation charges.
The two men, said to be foreigners, left the hotel without paying and made their escape by car, as a 44-year-old female member of staff gave chase and tried to stop their vehicle by grabbing onto one of the doors. The woman was dragged by the vehicle for about two metres (6.5 feet) before the vehicle sped off. The woman was lucky to escape with minor injuries, mostly scrapes and grazes to her knees.

According to police, the men were both in their 20s, with one being approximately 160-centimetres (5.2 feet) tall and of medium build, while the other was described as being roughly 170-centimetres tall with a slim build.
While police are currently searching for the two men, who are now wanted for inflicting injury and theft, netizens were quick to comment on the unusual case.
“What idiots.”
“What on earth were they doing inside their hotel room to rack up such an enormous bill?”
“I’ve never heard of anyone spending 110,000 yen on a night at a love hotel.”
“They must’ve gone absolutely crazy on the food and drink.”
“Is this some kind of super expensive love hotel?”
Looking at Hotel Belle La Tour’s prices, this isn’t an extravagant place to stay by any means, as rooms start at 8,960 yen for an overnight stay on the weekend, which is nothing out of the norm for a love hotel.

▼ Food prices seem pretty reasonable as well.

While the details of the bill aren’t being disclosed to the public, the two culprits are still on the run. And in case you were wondering, no they aren’t our two love-hotel loving Japanese-language reporters in our top photo. They pay all their love hotel bills, even when there’s a pachinko slot machine in their room.
