Forget the times when extended battles in the anime took up 10 episodes. This is where the fun’s at.
YouTube channel Counter 656 floored us years ago with its brilliant combination of stop motion video and action figures, rekindling our love of simpler times when holding a hero in our hands and meting out justice on imaginary foes was all it took to entertain us for hours on end.
Of the notable works in recent days by the channel, an action-filled sequence between Dragon Ball Z main protagonist Goku and rival Vegeta stood out as the most impressive.
▼ Times may have changed, but the rivalry never ends.
Cleverly disguised as an advertisement for energy food brand G Fuel, the clip starts off with Krillin and Future Trunks traveling on the time machine to an unspecified location rich in fuel. Present at the site are Android 17 and Android 18, who aren’t willing to hand over the precious commodity without a fight.
▼ Things are about to turn sour when Goku randomly appears and
casually devours the contents of one bottle, going into Super Saiyan mode.
▼ Like bees to honey, this somehow attracts the ire of Vegeta,
and the two clash in an electrifying battle filled with marvelous special effects.

▼ Goku gets taken out, but keeps his cool and consumes
the energy formula to attain Ascended Super Saiyan form.
▼ Naturally, Vegeta is no match for the powered up Goku,
who proceeds to blast him into plastic oblivion.
Although the two characters effectively stole the limelight from Krillin and Future Trunks with their intense rivalry, we’re not really complaining since we got an epic battle sequence instead. If all it took was some energy food to turn into the inadequately-explained Super Saiyan mode, the Dragon Ball universe would be much easier to understand for fans.
