A new way to have your dessert and drink it too.
As the nights get longer and the weather starts to cool, Starbucks’ Reserve Cafes are enticing us to enjoy the evenings with three drinks inspired by the Milanese tradition of enjoying desserts and coffee at evening bars.
The drinks are a luxurious way to unwind in the evening, and two of them have been so well received by the public that they’re now permanent fixtures on the menu. The Espresso Affogato Frappuccino, which contains vanilla ice cream and espresso, has been a hit with coffee lovers, while the Opera Frappuccino is well-loved for its intense chocolate flavours and decadent dessert-like taste.

Joining the two recently introduced mainstays is a new Coffee & Espresso Cream Frappuccino, which delivers bold espresso flavours with a creamy sweetness. The Frappuccino contains a layer of espresso whipped cream at both the bottom and top of the cup, with a milky body to balance out the bitterness and create a decadent richness.

According to Starbucks, the first few sips offer more of the creamy sweetness, while the roasted aroma and deep flavour of espresso becomes more pronounced as you make your way through the drink. Those looking for even more variety can customise the drink at the Coffee Discovery Counter, with the chain recommending cacao nibs for extra texture and roasted flavour, or pink pepper for a spicy, fragrant accent.
Though they’re being billed as “Nighttime Dolce Coffees”, all three drinks can be purchased at any time at the following six Starbucks Reserve Cafe locations:
The new Frappuccino will be available in a Tall size only, priced at 900 yen (US$5.68) for dine-in and 884 yen for takeout, and will be on the menu from 9 October.
